How to visit Cousin Island

To visit Cousin Island Special Reserve, you will need to first get to Praslin by domestic flight or fast ferry. Cousin Island is a small granitic island in the Seychelles lying 2km west of Praslin Island. It is a Land and Sea Special Reserve where different protected species of sea life are found.

Being a protected ecotourism island you can only visit Cousin Island Special Reserve between 9.30am to mid-afternoon. Cousin Island is home to various divergent endemic species. The endemic birds are the Seychelles Warbler known as ‘Timerl Dezil’ and the White-tail tropical Bird known as ‘Payanke’. There is also the Wright’s Skink known as ‘Teng Teng’ and the Giant Millipedes known as the ‘Milpat’. For any nature enthusiasts, there’s just so much to discover on Cousin Island. However, it is strongly advised to bring along mosquito repellent!

The best way to visit and tour Cousin Island is by joining a three island day excursion from Praslin. The tour includes a trail walk going around the nearby Curieuse Island and snorkeling at St.Pierre Island. Part of the tour is a sumptuous barbecue lunch laid out on the beach on Curieuse Island. This tour is one of the best combinations for visiting three of our unique Islands in just one day.
